I have an Auto Meter pillar mounted boost gauge, obviously more useful/accurate than the cluster gauge so I was wondering if there is any harm in connecting the factory gauge to something else? Specifically I want to have some idea of what the EGR system is doing so I was thinking of disconnecting the factory gauge from the balance tube and teeing it into the hose that goes from the EGR solenoid to the EGR valve. That way I will be able to observe the state of that system- is it at zero when idling, vacuum when cruising, zero or under pressure at WOT. Just wondering if the ECU is listening for input from the boost system, I do not see a wire for it in the ECU connector but I only do this for a hobby. Thanks!
